Serious Sam Classics: problem of connection scripts #68

Description

@HyperMaskDM

There is an annoying issue with the connection scripts in Sam that really hinders a smooth online gaming experience.

The problem is that when you switch the connection type on the server, the script change technically takes place, yet the client—despite using the new network script—doesn't actually change its behavior. It is as if the client is still using the old script, even though it has supposedly selected the new one; this happens even with a stable network connection—meaning the network script fails to switch over even when there are no network issues, however, even when operating on a local network, network scripts might not switch between one another.. However, even after leaving the server, changing the network script in the game menu, and reconnecting, the settings from the previous session persist—even if the game was restarted on the server or the client itself was restarted. The only solution turned out to be a full server restart; only then would the connection type actually change.

In theory, it’s supposed to trigger immediately when you switch connection types, but that doesn't happen on any server—even with a stable connection.

Does this issue stem from certain server-side parameters not being set, or is it just how the game's network scripts are coded?

Thank you in advance for your reply.
