I think this would be much more useful if it could also encapsulate the raw stream into a container (perhaps as an optional step).

Hi, sorry but I don't have much time for ffmpeg at the moment, try
to have a look at the official examples, e.g.: https://github.com/FFmpeg/FFmpeg/blob/b943bc343de0aba21a06447cef695b42f5db102d/doc/examples/muxing.c and if that does not help, ask a SO question showing what you've tried. If you get something working, do link to it from this thread.
