Set application vs. parameters Solum API

Dear,
Could someone clarify why we need to set an application (e.g., Applications: breast, dvt, msk_ankle, msk_elbow, msk_hip, msk_knee, msk_shoulder, msk_spine, msk_wrist, plastic_surgery, research for the L7) before we can modify all parameters? What effect does selecting a different application have if we are using the same parameter values afterward? It seems that each application has processing steps like speckle reduction and frame averaging that cannot be manually adjusted via the Solum API. Is there any documentation available regarding this?

without loading an application, the probe is in a state where it has no parameters programmed. if you load a new application after an initial load and changing parameters, the default parameters for that new application will overwrite any changes.
