Scheduling Widget For Sessions

We need some sort of widget that can display times and schedules for FRED meet ups. We may even need someone that can do Ruby Development to allow FREDS to create schedules dynamically :\

I know we could probably go with a Google Calendar, but it would be even sweeter if we could have one that actually looked good too ;)

I've not done much around this area, http://lnug.org is all manually written HTML, although I'm looking to switch it to be based off the Lanyrd series: http://lanyrd.com/series/lnug/

Yup, it's all Rails stuff I wrote for the job. I like to write an embedable widget for nextplex groups to use, but that's still a little ways off.

@Lail How many millions of dollars would it take for some guidance with one on FRED? I'm not a Ruby feller :(

I'm absolutely more than happy to help out w/ guidance, but unfortunately I'm not in a position where I can contribute much actual code for a few weeks. But if you have thoughts about how you might want the whole thing to work, we should talk about it.

Thinking each FRED can schedule their sessions much like you have going right now on NextPlex just unsure if that kind of feature can still operate on a github page or requires some kind of DB to interact with.

@grayghostvisuals I can't think of a great way to implement it with just github pages. I'm not super familiar with GH pages, though. If you serialized the form fields to json and then could get GH to both manage any authentication you wanted, and could get it to write the actual data as a file, it might work but I've never seen anybody talk about doing anything like that.

More likely, yeah, I think you're looking at a database.

Maybe for now we could get a Google Calendar up and running we have access to and embed that on the homepage somewhere?

Yeah those Google Calendars...ugly as sin, not very squishy by nature, but might have to be a solution for now.
