I wanted to check that this project is still maintained; i.e. if a new bug were to appear would it be handled in a timely fashion in this repo?

Yeah team maintenance helps in most projects.

Would be nice if we had the PRs #1 and #2 merged. Missing license information in the meta data creates some noise when installing;-)
