Your purpose in using this API:
I am developing a free, non-commercial Islamic educational website called RK Hidayah. The website has five main sections: Quran Translation, Quran Recitation, Hadith, Prayer Method, and Prayer Times. The Quran section provides multiple reciters, more than 40 translations, and multiple tafasir to help users study and understand the Quran.
The Hadith section will allow users to search Hadith by number, search by words or phrases when they do not remember the Hadith number, browse Hadith collections, view the original Arabic text, read available translations, view accurate references including references such as 391a/391b where applicable, and view Hadith grading/authenticity information along with the scholar who graded the Hadith.
The purpose of the project is to make reliable Islamic resources easier to access and help people learn more about Islam and get closer to it. The website will be publicly deployed but will remain completely free of cost and is not intended to be a commercial service.
I would like to use programmatic API access so that the Hadith section can retrieve and display Hadith data, references, and available metadata dynamically rather than maintaining a separate manually copied database.
API rate limits:
Maximum requests per second: 2
Maximum requests per day: 5000
Is your use case better served by having an offline dump of hadith data or programmatic API access?
Programmatic API access is better suited to my project because the Hadith section will retrieve and display Hadith data dynamically for users. This will also help keep the references and available metadata consistent with the data provided through Sunnah.com.
What are the languages in which you would like hadith data?
Arabic, English, and Urdu, with the possibility of supporting additional languages in the future depending on the availability of suitable Hadith translations and data sources.
What programming language will your API client be in?
Python
