Gotify and HA setup (and iPhone notifications) not working

I'm trying to setup the Gotify notification service with HA. I have a Gotify server running, and can successfully send a message to it using a curl command (and the Gotify HA app token). However, I cannot get it working with HA.

I have the HACS integration installed and I've added this notify item to the configuration.yaml file:

Questions:

• For the platform value, should this be 'gotify' or 'rest'? I've seen references to both, but when I created the rest item, it doesn't show up as a notify action.
• For the url, should I use https://gotify.mydomain.com or https://gotify.mydomain.com/message?
• For the token value above, is this the Gotify app token created for HA?

Your example is correct, <gotify_url> should be just the base URL with no path and <gotify_token> is your app token starting with the letter A. Do you get any errors in the logs after attempting to send a notification?

I was able to get this working. Do you have a specific code example I could use to include an image from an HA camera snapshot entity (not publicly accessible) in a Gotify notification message?

The image needs to be publicly accessible for your phone to download when the notification is rendered. What I do is just create a directory with a long random name in the www folder. Since HomeAssistant doesn't allow indexing public directories the name should act like a secret key.

To prevent my hard drive from filling up I additionally use this config entry + automation to delete old snapshots after 30 days.

Is it possible to include the image inline/embedded rather than on a publicly accessible location?

Don't think so since your phone needs to be able to download the picture when rendering the notification.

As long as the image is publicly accessible, it's possible to include the image inline with the message. I've done this with a Blue Iris alert using Powershell to create/setup the images on a web server.

If you want the image to render in mobile notifications you can only include the link as bigImageUrl I think. If you only want to be able to view the image in the app you can probably embed it as markdown image when setting the content type to markdown.
