Chunks not loaded

So I have some automated minecart loaders/unloaders/item sorters that I have placed the chunk blocks nearby so I can go far away and the machines will continue to process, but the chunks are not staying loaded and the machines do not operate unless I am nearby, which is inconvenient because the machines are also wicked far away from each other. Idk if this is a problem with the 1.11.2 release but the chunkloaders are not functioning for me.

Ok so I did a little bit more experimentation and found out that the chunkloader blocks will work after I place them until I log off. The next time I log back in though, the blocks are no longer loading the chunks. If I destroy the blocks and replace them, it works fine again until I log off once more. I hope this helps :)
