Goal
Establish a strict, incremental TypeScript foundation for Secure Tools without a repository-wide rewrite or changes to public behavior.
Scope
- Audit browser, shared, Node, test, locale, generated, and vendored JavaScript boundaries.
- Add locked TypeScript compiler tooling and strict configuration.
- Preserve JavaScript and TypeScript coexistence.
- Integrate controlled browser-module compilation with the manifest-driven static build.
- Migrate a small set of shared, contract-focused first-party modules.
- Require
npm run typecheck in CI.
- Add regression checks for emitted JavaScript, excluded TypeScript/source maps, routes, redirects, OCR, privacy, CSP, and six locales.
- Document the incremental migration policy.
Exclusions
- No full JavaScript rewrite.
- No framework or bundler introduction.
- No vendor/generated-code conversion.
- No URL behavior changes.
- No PDF OCR, Searchable PDF, or unrelated feature work.
