A daily, rig-site dashboard for mud engineers — built for the calculations you run every shift. Manage drill string, hole/casing and surface volumes, track daily mud tank gain/loss, run mud calculations (hydraulics, mixing, OWR, weighting, analysis), and prepare displacement/cement sheets. 100% offline, local-first.
Most rig-site mud engineering calculations still live in a scattered Excel sheet — one tab for drill string, one for tank levels, one for hydraulics. Mud Engineer Pro brings all of it into a single offline dashboard: enter your drill string and hole structure once, save it to a reusable catalog, and let the app handle the volume math for you every shift.
- 🛠️ Drill String tracking — BHA components with outer/inner/steel capacities, length, and auto-calculated volumes
- 🕳️ Hole Structure tracking — casing/open hole sections with the same capacity & volume breakdown
- 📚 Reusable catalogs — save drill string components and casing items once, reuse them across wells via dropdown selection instead of retyping
- 🧮 Volume Summary panel — live hole volume, drillstring (steel) volume, hole-with-drillstring volume, surface-to-bit volume, and bottom-up (annular) volume
- 🎯 Bit Position & TMD tracking — dashboard fields for total measured depth and current bit position
- 🛢️ Tanks & Mud Volume Tracking — tank properties (length, v/cm, capacity) plus daily before/after levels with automatic gain/loss calculation
↕️ Drag-and-drop catalog reordering- 📝 Built-in changelog page to track version history
- 💾 100% offline, local-first — all data stored in a single
data.jsonfile, no internet connection or account required
- 🧪 Mud calculator: hydraulics, mud mixing, OWR (oil/water ratio), weighting, and mud analysis
- 📄 Displacement and cement sheet preparation
- 🔍 Per-column filtering on data tables
- ⚙️ Expanded settings: show/hide navbar, dashboard sections, and other UI panels from a settings page
- 📤 Data export / update tools
- Python 3.8+
- Flask
git clone https://github.com/<your-username>/MudEngineerPro.git
cd MudEngineerPro
pip install flaskpython app.pyThe app starts a local server on http://127.0.0.1:5000 — open it in your browser to get started.
All your data is saved to data.json in the same folder. Back up or copy that file to move your data between machines — no cloud, no external database.
Issues and pull requests are welcome. If you're a mud engineer with a feature request from the field, open an issue describing the use case — real rig-site feedback is exactly what this tool needs.
