Integrate this to Scipy

I understand that the aim for this project was to be integrated to scipy at some point, and sure it would be a good thing!

I already asked in the dedicated thread but got no answer (I guess no one got notified), but where are you with this? Do you still plan to open a PR?

The original goal was indeed to submit a PR. However, as you could see from the mailing list discussion, there was very little response or interest from the community. As a result, I never followed through with the PR.

There are still a few things that need to be adapted before it is ready, and I simply never found the time to bring it to that stage.

What are the things that need to be adaped? When I played around with it, it worked very well excpet the one question you know - and which very likely stems from my incorrect equations of motion.

Yeah sure this thread didn't got the attention it deserved if you ask me. However I still think that opening a PR would be worth a shot!

I'm not alone to think that a DAE solver is actually a big hole in scipy's toolbox, and you've done an amazing job implementing these algorithms and even more benchmarking solve_dae. I also suspect that there will only be a growing interest in DAE solvers as (for what I know) there are currently no standard way of solving DAE in Python as it exists for solving ODE, or DAE in other languages.
That's only my opinion but it would be a shame not to take that last step of opening a PR 😄

If I can be of any help to fix the last things you have in mind it would be my pleasure 😄

I also think the SciPy toolbox lacks a DAE solver and I am very glad you make one available to the community.
I'd also like to propose my help for some testing or write some code.

There may even be a problem in getting it merged into scipy too early:
At least in sympy a PR has to be reviewed before those allowed to merge can merge it. I assume scipy is similar. So any change to solve_dae has to be reviewed. If nobody understands this change, the PR will just sit around.
At present Jonas can make changes as he sees fit. Once in scipy likely he no longer can do so.
