💡 What:

  1. Optimized docs/app/sitemap.ts by replacing regular expressions with direct .slice string operations to strip file extensions, and guarded path-separator normalization to run only on Windows/non-POSIX environments.
  2. Streamlined the ThemeToggle component (app/components/ThemeToggle/index.tsx) by removing redundant useMemo hooks for simple ternary checks and string concatenations.

🎯 Why:

  • Regex pattern compilation and execution in recursive loops allocate memory and take up CPU cycles. Direct string slicing on known-suffix files is significantly faster.
  • Path splitting/joining is completely redundant on Unix/Linux production servers where the path separator is already /.
  • useMemo introduces hook registration, dependency tracking, and comparison overhead which exceeds the cost of lightweight ternary/string evaluations inside standard render loops.

📊 Impact:

  • Sub-millisecond rendering speedup and significantly fewer memory allocations per sitemap file traversal.
  • Reduced memory footprint and virtual DOM diff overhead on every rendering of the ThemeToggle component.

🔬 Measurement:

  • Run pnpm test and pnpm test:e2e to verify correctness and ensure zero regressions.
