If you want to sell a fridge, a sofa or a set of kitchen chairs in Kenya, your options are group chats, classified posts and word of mouth. Buyers cannot tell who is real. Sellers cannot tell who will actually show up. Money changes hands with no protection on either side, and there is no record of what was agreed.
HomeSoko gives both sides a single place to trade with rules. Buyers pay into the platform, not into a stranger's phone. Sellers get paid once delivery is confirmed. If something goes wrong, there is a dispute process and someone to review it.
- A seller lists an item with photos, a price, a condition grade and a location.
- A buyer browses, adds to cart and pays with M-Pesa.
- The money is held by the platform — the seller does not receive it yet.
- The seller is notified and dispatches the order.
- The buyer confirms delivery. If they do not respond within 48 hours, the order confirms automatically.
- The seller is paid out to their M-Pesa, minus commission.
If the buyer raises a dispute before confirming, the funds stay frozen until an administrator reviews it and either releases the payment or refunds the buyer.
