STORM Control Board

The central control PCB for the STORM robot (Sooner Competitive Robotics). A Raspberry Pi Pico runs the robot's I/O: motor and servo PWM, quadrature encoders, actuator drivers, and links to the sonar and IR sensor boards.

Hardware

  • Controller: Raspberry Pi Pico (RP2040) with a reset switch and three status LEDs
  • Power: 12 V input (XT60) with TVS protection and reverse-polarity Schottky diodes, feeding
    • AP62301 buck converter, 12 V to 7 V for servos
    • REG1117-5 LDO for 5 V
    • REG1117-3.3 LDO for 3.3 V
  • Motors: three PWM motor outputs (left, right, intake) and three quadrature encoder inputs
  • Servos: three servo headers on the 7 V rail
  • Actuators: three low-side ZXMN4A06 MOSFET drivers with flyback diodes
  • Peripherals: I2C connectors to the sonar and IR boards, and a serial header to the onboard Pi
