The ETIS Community is the public discussion hub for the Engineering Trustworthy Intelligent Systems (ETIS) ecosystem.
This repository exists primarily as the source repository for organization-wide GitHub Discussions in the etis-framework organization. It intentionally contains very little executable material. Its purpose is to provide a durable, well-governed place for questions, ideas, professional exchange, education, publication discussions, and community feedback across the ETIS ecosystem.

Use Discussions for conversations that span the ETIS ecosystem, including:
- the ETIS framework and its engineering principles;
- books, publications, and reference material;
- the ETIS Professional Computing Series;
- engineering judgment in the AI era;
- software and systems engineering practice;
- trustworthy intelligent systems;
- computing education and teaching;
- examples, applications, trade-offs, and lessons learned;
- questions, clarifications, ideas, and constructive feedback.
The community is intended to connect framework, education, publications, and engineering practice without forcing broad conversations into a single implementation repository.
ETIS includes several complementary forms of material.
- The Engineering Trustworthy Intelligent Systems reference work presents the broader ETIS engineering framework.
- The ETIS Professional Computing Series applies engineering judgment and ETIS principles to specific areas of computing.
- Other ETIS publications, educational resources, tools, and repositories support particular parts of the ecosystem.
- This community provides the discussion layer across those materials.
A community discussion is not itself an authoritative change to the ETIS framework, a publication, or a governed artifact. Accepted changes become authoritative only when they are incorporated into the appropriate controlled source.

This repository is not intended to be a general-purpose issue tracker. If Issues are enabled, they should be limited to defects in this repository's own documentation or configuration.
ETIS encourages rigorous disagreement. Strong community contributions distinguish among:
- facts and observations;
- assumptions;
- interpretations;
- engineering judgments;
- proposed actions.
When a claim depends on external evidence, provide enough context or a source for others to evaluate it. Critique ideas and evidence rather than people.
Do not post:
- credentials, secrets, access tokens, or private keys;
- personally identifiable information that is not appropriate for public release;
- student records or protected educational information;
- active assessment solutions when doing so would undermine academic integrity;
- confidential client, employer, law-enforcement, government, or proprietary information;
- copyrighted material you do not have permission to redistribute.
Public discussion should use sanitized or synthetic examples when real material cannot be shared safely.
AI-assisted drafting and analysis are welcome when used responsibly. The person posting remains accountable for the content.
When AI assistance is material to a technical or factual claim:
- verify the claim independently;
- check citations and links;
- do not submit confidential information to an AI service without authorization;
- disclose material AI assistance when it helps readers understand provenance or limitations.
AI output is not evidence merely because it is fluent.
