This issue is related to #400. As described, techniques have an underline when they have metadata attached.
Currently, the user is able to adjust whether the underline be added or not from the config file. We could add an option where the user is able to adjust the technique controls from the layer file itself.
This involves exploring ways to add this functionality to the layer file but also taking into consideration how it would affect the config file and which one should take precedence.
