Video Kitchen

A local, browser-based GUI for inspecting video files that contain multiple audio tracks and/or multiple subtitle tracks. Video Kitchen features a stunning, modern monochrome flagship interface and powerful tools to easily manipulate your video files.

Developed by Narwal Software Solutions

Works with virtually any container ffmpeg understands: MP4, MKV, MOV, AVI, WebM, TS, and more.

Workflow Modes

Video Kitchen has two dedicated workflow modes:

  1. Remove Mode: Select the audio or subtitle tracks you no longer want, and click Export. Video Kitchen will prompt you with a native Windows save dialog and generate a brand-new .mkv video file with those tracks completely stripped out.
  2. Extract Mode: Quickly download any individual audio or subtitle track out of the video to its own file. You can extract them individually or select multiple and hit Extract Selected to cleanly extract them into a specific folder of your choosing.

Why it's safe & fast

  • Your original file is never modified or deleted. Every action prompts you for an output destination and safely writes a brand-new file.
  • All operations use ffmpeg stream copy (-c copy) — no re-encoding, so there is absolutely no quality loss and the entire process finishes in seconds, not minutes.
  • Nothing is uploaded anywhere. This is a local Flask server running strictly on your own machine (127.0.0.1) that simply opens locally in your browser.

Requirements

  1. Python 3.8+
  2. ffmpeg + ffprobe installed and available on your system PATH
    • Windows: gyan.dev (add the bin folder to your PATH)
    • macOS: brew install ffmpeg
    • Linux: sudo apt install ffmpeg (or your distro's package manager)
  3. The Flask Python package

Setup & run

pip install -r requirements.txt
python app.py

Your default browser will open automatically to the Video Kitchen interface. If it doesn't, the terminal will print the URL (e.g. http://127.0.0.1:5151/) — open it manually.
