The CATS mrrp is a low-power digital transceiver, created as portable, low-cost user equipment for the [CATS](https://cats.radio) digital amateur radio mode.

The mrrp is intended as a bare minimum CATS-capable transceiver, taking commands from a host device via a custom binary protocol, and handling packet queueing, automatic retransmissions, and ACK detection. Its intended use is as a companion to a mobile app which exposes a higher level UI, allowing users to experiment with CATS without needing expensive hardware which integrates radio functionality with the UI.
