Say It Back

Say It Back is a web app that helps people understand how their messages might be perceived before they send them.

It analyzes a given message for its tone, intent, and potential impact, then provides a softer, more considerate rewrite that preserves the original meaning while reducing the chances of unnecessary conflict or misunderstanding.

Features

  • Tone Analysis Identifies the emotional tone of a message, such as angry, passive-aggressive, friendly, neutral, etc.

  • Intent Analysis Helps understand what the message appears to be trying to communicate.

  • Impact Analysis Shows how the message might be perceived by the person receiving it.

  • Suggested Rewrite Generates a softer version of the message while trying to preserve its original meaning.

  • Conflict Prevention Helps users communicate more clearly and avoid unnecessary misunderstandings or arguments.

Why Say It Back?

Sometimes we know what we want to say, but the way we write it can make it sound harsher than we intended.

A short message can easily be misunderstood because text doesn't carry facial expressions, voice tone, or body language.

Say It Back acts as a communication check before you hit send.

Type it. Understand it. Say it better.

How It Works

  1. Enter the message you want to analyze.
  2. Say It Back analyzes its tone, intent, and potential impact.
  3. The results help you understand how your message may come across.
  4. The app suggests a softer rewrite.
  5. You can use the suggested version as a starting point for a more considerate conversation.

Goal

The goal of Say It Back isn't to tell people what they should say.

It's to help people understand how their words might be received and give them another way to express the same thought with less unnecessary friction.

Future Improvements

  • More detailed tone and emotion detection
  • Multiple rewrite styles, such as professional, friendly, casual, or empathetic
  • Conversation-level analysis instead of analyzing a single message
  • Support for multiple languages
  • Better personalization based on the relationship between the people communicating

Project

Say It Back was built as a project exploring how AI can be used to improve everyday communication and reduce misunderstandings in text-based conversations.
