AlwaysShowHiddenSections

AlwaysShowHiddenSections is an Equicord userplugin that lets you keep selected Discord Home sidebar sections visible even when Discord would normally hide them.

The plugin currently supports Message Requests, Library, and Family Center. Each section has its own setting, so you can choose exactly which hidden entries should remain available.

Features

  • Message Requests: Keeps the Message Requests entry visible even when there are no normal or spam requests. Opening it with no pending requests shows Discord's standard empty state.
  • Library: Keeps the Library entry visible even when Discord's library setting or installed-application detection would normally hide it.
  • Family Center: Keeps the Family Center entry visible even when Discord's visibility or eligibility checks would normally hide it.
  • Independent settings: Every supported section can be enabled or disabled separately.
  • No replacement UI: The plugin reuses Discord's own navigation entries, icons, routes and pages.

All three settings are enabled by default. Changing a setting requires a Discord restart because the setting controls a webpack patch.

Settings

Setting Default Effect
Always show Message Requests Enabled Shows Message Requests even when the request count is zero.
Always show Library Enabled Shows Discord's application Library entry.
Always show Family Center Enabled Shows Discord's Family Center entry.

Open Equicord Settings → Plugins → AlwaysShowHiddenSections to change these options, then fully restart Discord.

What the plugin does not change

  • Nitro Home, Shop and Quests are left entirely under Discord's original behavior because current Discord builds already show them without this plugin.
  • The plugin does not create message requests, games, Family Center connections or account eligibility.
  • The plugin does not bypass server-side restrictions. Discord may still limit the content of a page based on account age, region, experiments or eligibility.
  • The plugin does not read, store or transmit account data and does not make network requests.

Requirements

  • A source build of Equicord.
  • A supported Discord desktop or web environment used by that Equicord build.
  • Comfort with installing userplugins and rebuilding Equicord from source.

This repository contains source code only. It does not provide a prebuilt plugin or one-click installer.

Installation

Important

YOU MUST BUILD EQUICORD FROM SOURCE BEFORE YOU CAN USE THIS OR ANY SIMILAR USERPLUGIN. PREBUILT EQUICORD DOWNLOADS DO NOT LOAD SOURCE USERPLUGINS.

1. Build Equicord from source

Follow Equicord's official Building from Source guide. Complete the guide and make sure the source build works before installing this userplugin.

2. Install AlwaysShowHiddenSections

Follow Equicord's official Installing User Plugins guide and place this repository at:

Equicord/src/userplugins/alwaysShowHiddenSections

From the Equicord repository root, you can clone it directly into the correct location:

git clone https://github.com/xVanDat/alwaysShowHiddenSections src/userplugins/alwaysShowHiddenSections

3. Rebuild Equicord with the userplugin

pnpm build

You must rebuild Equicord whenever you install or update this plugin.

4. Inject the rebuilt Equicord client

pnpm inject

Fully restart Discord, open Equicord Settings, find AlwaysShowHiddenSections in the Plugins tab and enable it. Restart Discord again after enabling, disabling or changing any of the plugin's settings.

Updating

From Equicord/src/userplugins/alwaysShowHiddenSections:

git pull
cd ../../..
pnpm build
pnpm inject

Fully restart Discord after injecting the updated build. Review incoming changes before rebuilding and injecting them.

Troubleshooting

The plugin does not appear in Equicord Settings

Confirm that the repository is located at Equicord/src/userplugins/alwaysShowHiddenSections, then run pnpm build and pnpm inject from the Equicord repository root. Prebuilt Equicord releases do not load the source folder automatically.

A section is still hidden

Make sure its setting is enabled and fully restart Discord. If Discord recently updated, its internal module structure may have changed and the corresponding patch may need an update.

A section opens but its page is empty or unavailable

The plugin only changes whether Discord renders the navigation entry. Page data and eligibility are still controlled by Discord. For example, Family Center may remain limited for accounts that are not eligible for its features.

Nitro Home, Shop or Quests are missing

This plugin intentionally does not patch those entries. Their visibility is controlled by Discord itself.

Compatibility

AlwaysShowHiddenSections patches Discord's private-channel navigation module. Discord can change that internal code without notice, so a future Discord update may temporarily break one or more sections even when the plugin still compiles.

When reporting a compatibility issue, include your Discord release channel, Discord build number, Equicord version and the specific section that no longer appears. Do not include account tokens or other private data.

Development

The plugin is implemented in a single index.tsx file and has no third-party runtime dependencies. To validate changes from an Equicord source checkout, run the repository's normal lint and build checks, including:

pnpm exec eslint src/userplugins/alwaysShowHiddenSections/index.tsx
pnpm build

Privacy and security

The plugin only changes client-side visibility conditions for Discord's existing navigation entries. It does not access your token, messages, relationships, Family Center activity, game library contents or other account data.

As with any client modification, review the source before installing updates. Discord and Equicord can change, and future modifications may alter the plugin's behavior.

AlwaysShowHiddenSections is distributed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. The source retains the Vencord/Equicord GPL attribution header used by Equicord plugins.
